Brisbane's News Talk Radio Station 1116 4BC hosted this graphic display of the national yearly road toll, set out in front of the Wally Lewis Statue at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Thursday, 14 May 2009. A media event staged with the assistance of 4BC, Lifeline, the Suncorp Stadium Trust, Suncorp Insurance and the NRL, it was attended by Neil Roberts MLA, Minister for Police, Corrective Services and Emergency Services.

The event was attended by journalists and news crews from all three commercial TV networks and the ABC as well as the AAP, News and Fairfax print/internet media groups, and the Southern Cross Broadcasting group of companies through FFF sponsor 4BC.

The 1600 pairs of shoes, loaned by Lifeline, arrived in four large pallet cages.
