A Message from Fatality Free Friday Founder Russell White

"We were delighted by the amount of support and awareness Fatality Free Friday achieved across Australia in 2009. This was our third year and the level of interest has grown each time. Fatality Free Friday is Australia’s only community-based national road safety campaign and it is something we’re very proud of. I'd like to thank all our sponsors and supporters - and particularly all of the ordinary people, schools and workplaces - that joined in.

“Although we focus on one day a year, to demonstrate that if we can make a conscious effort to have the right attitude and make the right decisions while we’re behind the wheel on this one day, then we can do it every day of the year.

"I urge everyone to join us again for Fatality Free Friday on 28 May, 2010."

On The Day

There were five Australian road deaths on 22 May 2009, all in South Australia. The statistical average for road fatalities on a Friday is 5.3.
